Celebrating National Golf Month: Tee Up This Autumn at PGA WEST®

Updated: Sep 29, 2023

A true ball strikers' golf course, The Nicklaus Tournament along with the Stadium Course is the bi-annual host of the PGA TOUR’s final round of Q-School, which is attended by some of the best players in the world.

Every August, National Golf Month celebrates the world of golf, from iconic courses to legendary players to the joy of the perfect swing and that insanely great golf round when everything’s going your way. From tee to green, golf invites us all—from beginners to advanced players—to immerse ourselves in a sport that’s equal parts exhilarating and frustrating. As Bob Hope once said: “When I miss a shot, I think what a beautiful day it is. And what pure fresh air I’m breathing. Then I take a deep breath. I have to do that. That’s what gives me the strength to break the club!”

All jokes aside, there is nothing, we repeat, nothing that compares to an unforgettable day on the championship golf courses of PGA WEST. And, as we head into the fall season, here’s an update on all things golf at “The Western Home of Golf in America™.”

PGA WEST Championship Golf Courses

PGA WEST boasts nine championship golf courses, five of which are public access resort courses designed by golf greats Pete Dye, Jack Nicklaus, and Greg Norman. All nine courses have undergone or are set to go through comprehensive restoration over a ten-year timeline.

Play in the footsteps of the pros when The American Express™ (January 15-21, 2024) makes its annual stop on the PGA WEST® Pete Dye Stadium Course where Dye protégé Tim Liddy has already completed Phase 1 of a stellar renovation to bring Dye’s original vision back to life. Be sure to get in a round or two on Dye’s Mountain Course with its fantastic views, rock formation and rolling terrain. Tee up on the Scottish style links with a twist on Dye’s Dunes Course. Earlier this summer, Liddy and his team completed a greens restoration project on both courses.

You can also apply your skills on the Nicklaus Tournament Course—which had a makeover in 2020—a masterpiece featuring two island greens, cavernous bunkers, and tiered fairways, and Greg Norman Course, inspired by the Outback environment of Norman’s native Australia. Spanning a prehistoric ocean bed, the 7,200-yard course had a makeover in 2022 that included turf replacement for all greens, refreshed bunkers, and enhancement of acres of desert landscape.

PGA WEST® Golf Academy

Our national Top 100 and Best in State instructors will help you evaluate the condition of your game, identify problem areas, and develop clear-cut strategies to make and track changes. Along with cutting-edge Trackman technology at the Golf Academy, practice facilities and golf courses, the recently renovated Pete Dye Clubhouse now features two state-of-the-art Trackman 4 simulators. Practice, train and take your game online, playing some of the best courses in the world, including three PGA WEST resort courses.

The Pete Dye Stadium Course, Tournament Course and Norman Course are open for play. Pete Dye Mountain and Dunes Courses to reopen September 1st, 2023.
