PGA WEST® Member Corina Kelepouris recently made waves at the U.S. Senior Women’s Open, finishing in an impressive tie for ninth place. But Corina’s journey in golf began much earlier, growing up in Drayton Valley, Canada.
Corina first picked up a golf club at 11 years old, and her passion for the sport grew as she navigated the competitive world of junior golf. After graduating from the University of Alberta, she turned pro in 1998, spending the next decade on the Futures Tour pro circuit and competing in LPGA events. However, after 10 years on the circuit, Corina decided to take a step back from competitive play.
It wasn't until she moved to PGA WEST® six years ago that Corina rekindled her relationship with golf. Now, she enjoys the luxury of playing and practicing at her own pace, teeing off with other members, or simply relaxing at home.
The 2024 U.S. Senior Women’s Open was held from August 1-4 at the Fox Chapel Golf Club in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In a field of 120 players, Corina competed against golf legends like Annika Sorenstam, Juli Inkster, and Leta Lindley, who claimed first place.
“All week, I had an almost surprising level of calm considering I had never played in anything close to this scale,” Corina reflects.
She adds: “My focus was to stay in the moment, and my caddie Terry did an amazing job reminding me to breathe, walk, and talk through our process on every shot. The support I received from everyone meant so much to me.”
