PGA Family Golf Championship Makes Its Debut at PGA WEST December 9-10

PGA Family Golf program inspires family fun and connection

The joy of playing golf with family across generations lies not just in the game, but in the encouragement and friendly competition that ensues. That joy will be on full display at PGA WEST® in La Quinta, California December 9-10, 2023, at the Inaugural PGA Family Golf Championship. Families from across the country will be heading to Greater Palm Springs for the event.

"We are so excited to be hosting the first-ever PGA Family Golf Championship at PGA West,” says PGA of America’s Adult Golf Lead Kristi Egnot. “This was the perfect venue to bring our vision to life. At the end of the weekend, some families will leave with trophies, but all of them will go back home with memories that will last a lifetime."

More than 64 family teams will compete during the two-day alternate shot format with play taking place on the PGA WEST® Pete Dye Mountain Course and Dunes Course, which underwent expansive greens restoration over the summer. The teams will be split into amateur and professional divisions for the tournament and winners will be awarded in both divisions. 

PGA Family Golf teams consist of two to four players with a minimum pair of one adult and one junior per team. For the tournament, in alignment with the American Development Model, juniors must be at least 10 years old by first day of play to participate in the Championship.

Spectators are welcome and encouraged to attend this inaugural Family Golf event.

Round #1: Saturday, Dec. 9 – 9 a.m. shotgun start on the PGA WEST® Pete Dye Dunes Course

Round #2: Sunday, Dec. 10 – 9 a.m. shotgun start on the PGA WEST® Pete Dye Mountain Course.

Awards will be presented immediately after play once scores are posted and confirmed.

A family team celebrates a great shot at PGA Family Golf event

Inspired by the PGA of America’s successful Junior League program, PGA Family Golf launched nationally in 2022 and is growing. PGA Family Golf teams receive coaching from PGA and LPGA professionals at various host facilities throughout the United States; any facility with a PGA or LPGA professional is eligible to host programs.
